Moving in Time

Our captivating dance film will change pre-conceptions of what dance in care homes can be.

Moving in Time directed and choreographed by Anjali Mehra and produced by TEA films is a short film inspired by the residents of St Fillans Care Home in Colchester.

In partnership with Magic Me, the UK's leading intergenerational arts charity, New Adventures Dance Artists Emily Piercy and Alan Vincent ran a series of movement workshops at St Fillans Care Home with a group of residents, many of whom are living with dementia. During the workshops, the residents told personal stories and shared treasured items from their past, inspiring the stories presented in this captivating short film.

Director and Choreographer Anjali Mehra, alongside Emily and Alan, and dancers Reece Causton, Tasha Chu, Glenn Graham and Karishma Young, has created a heart-warming piece with the care home residents that celebrates who they are and the journeys that shaped them. Each moment in the film was inspired by the connections made during the movement sessions or the stories that the residents shared with us.

Moving in Time is available to watch for a limited period here on our website, in the UK only.

Film

Moving in Time is about ‘then and now’- how we animate memories and shared moments (of residents) and their loves and passions; and how we revive the innate; human desire for connection, touch/feeling and love across time.
