We are an Arts Council NPO and committed to developing relationships with education partners in Surrey, ensuring our engagement with young people in our region has lasting impact and legacy.

In collaboration with Culture Box Surrey, the Cultural Education Partnership (CEP) for the county of Surrey, we have partnered with three schools in the delivery of residencies, working closely with teachers to champion equity in taking part in high-quality dance with no barriers to access. Our residencies focus on igniting a passion in school faculties for dance provision in the curriculum and developing young people’s creative identity, interpersonal skills, collaboration, self-confidence, trust and a sense of success and accomplishment.

We led residencies at two of our three Surrey Partner Schools in Autumn 2019, following the earlier pilot sessions.

Sunnydown School
Sunnydown School is a maintained Special school in Caterham, for boys with Communication and Interaction difficulties. In 2019, we delivered an Edward Scissorhandsthemed performance project which explored themes of exclusion, bullying, community and forgiveness. The project started with whole school assemblies and CPD and culminated in a sharing of the boys’ response piece performed to the whole school, invited friends and family and some of our New Adventures team.

Knyvett College
We worked with Thomas Knyvett College in Ashford over two academic years to support the embedding of dance within the school. This included CPD and shadowing opportunities for PE teachers and recruiting 10’s as dance captains through taster workshop. To recruit young people we led a year 9 assembly and people signed up to a five day residency at the end of the autumn 2019 term, working towards a performance at the school’s Christmas show alongside our year 10 dance captains.
