Dancers in Residence

Since 2016 we have delivered three whole-school performance projects where every child has been involved in creating their own dance piece using New Adventures' unique storytelling style.

During each project, two New Adventures Dance Artists were residents over a six to seven week period, working with every class once a week. The projects culminated in a performance to an audience of over 1000 family, friends and guests. Our inaugural project saw over 400 pupils from William Patten Primary School perform their own version of Matthew Bourne's Cinderella at Sadler's Wells in January 2018, which you can learn more about in the film below.

Following the success of our first Dancers in Residence, we were approached by London Fields Primary School to devise a brand-new dance piece inspired by the West African and Caribbean Folklore of the Anansi Stories. 480 pupils performed their work on the main stage at Hackney Empire in July 2018.

We most recently worked with Roger Ascham Primary School, where Matthew Bourne attended as a child, to create their own version of Bourne's Nutcracker! which was performed in March 2019 at Walthamstow's Assembly Hall in partnership with Waltham Forest London Borough of Culture 2019.
