Roisin Whelan

Overview
Roisin is originally from Ireland where she trained at the Aedeen O’Hagan School of Ballet, Shawbrook and Dublin Youth Dance Company. Roisin completed her BPA and MA at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
Roisin joined Black Box Dance Company upon graduation and toured with the company throughout 2019 across Denmark, Sweden and Germany. Following her time in Scandinavia, she then joined Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures for their tour of Romeo and Juliet and now works with the company as a dance artist, teaching for the company’s education strand. Roisin teaches various community groups from a range of ages and abilities across Ireland.

Other Career Highlights: Apprentice for Black Box Dance Company (Denmark) for the 2018/2019 season performing works by Jason Mabana, Marie Brolin-Tani, Stephanie Thomson/ Thomas Brentin and Tim Rushton, touring across Sweden and Denmark; Ocean by Jamaal Burkmar (West Yorkshire Playhouse); funded by the Irish Arts Council to make a solo work Memories, with Betty as part of the Emergence, young choreographers program touring across Ireland; danced in the film I See His Blood (2016) choreographed by Adrienne Brown, filmography by Eoghan O’Reilly and music by Robbie Overson (awarded the Audience Choice Award for Best Film and Best Costume at the FAD Festival).
