Ihsaan De Banya

Dancer

Ihsaan was born in London and began dance training at The Place as part of its youth dance programs, Shift and Centre for Advanced Training (CAT).  Following this, he went on to train at London Contemporary Dance School (LCDS). During his time as a student, he danced work by Bawren Taviziva, Tom Dale and Theo Clinkard amongst others.  

Once graduated, Ihsaan danced with Richard Alston Dance Company for 5 years, performing numerous works by Alston and Martin Lawrance nationally and internationally. He has also worked with Trisha Okinawa, Renaud Wiser, Clod Ensemble and James Wilton Dance, alongside performing in music videos for artist including  Friendly Fires and Au/Ra. 

Ihsaan is currently the Rehearsal Director for Shuffle Youth Dance Company, and a teacher on The Place CAT, he is passionate about teaching and nurturing talent, he has also taught outreach as part of The Royal Ballet’s Primary Steps and English National Ballet’s Dance Journeys.
