New Adventures is delighted to share that it was announced on 11 July at the Bessie Awards conference in New York that Matthew Bourne's production of The Red Shoes has been nominated for two awards!
Matthew Bourne's production of The Red Shoes has been nominated for Outstanding Production and Lez Brotherston (Set & Costume), Duncan McLean (Video & Projection) and Paule Constable (Lighting) for Outstanding Visual Design.
The New York Dance and Performance Awards — more commonly known as the Bessies (the dance world’s version of the Oscars or Tonys) also nominated Sara Mearns for Outstanding Performer in recognition for her work with New York City Ballet and her side projects such as The Red Shoes and the Isadora Duncan homage Dancers of Isadora. Sara joined us to play the role of Victoria Page alongside Ashley Shaw and Cordelia Braithwaite, thrilling audiences in Broadway at New York City Center from October 26 - November 5, 2017 and bringing our USA tour to a close.
The 34th Bessie Awards will take place October 8 at 7:30pm at NYU's Skirball Center for the Performing Arts.
