We can’t quite believe it’s nearly the end of our record-breaking Swan Lake UK tour, which kicked off back in September 2019. 23 venues on, over 33 weeks in total, we have some heartfelt goodbyes for those leaving The Lake but a warm welcome to new arrivals and those stepping into different roles. Here goes…
Firstly, we’ll be saying goodbye to Pia Driver as Resident Director. Pia has a long history with Swan Lake and New Adventures, which you can read about here. Glenn Graham, currently playing The Private Secretary as well as Rehearsal Director, will be stepping into Pia’s shoes with Dominic North stepping up as Rehearsal Director whilst continuing in his role as The Prince.
Courtney Liu will be leaving the company at the end of the UK tour - we hope she has enjoyed her debut season with the Company and we wish her well for her return home to the US. Courtney will be replaced by Mari Kamata, a New Adventures veteran who will join the Company for the international tour which kicks off at Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, her home city!
Liam Mower is taking a well-deserved break from his extremely busy year with us on both The Lake and Cinderella and he will re-join the company for the Chinese leg of our Asian tour. Callum Bowman who made his debut with us during the UK tour and is currently in Romeo and Juliet will return to the company for Japan and Korea.
Lastly, Katie Webb will be taking a break for the Japanese season, with Bryony Harrison, fresh from Romeo and Juliet, returning to cover her in Tokyo. Also returning for Tokyo is Matthew Ball who will join us from his US Royal Ballet tour for the second week of the season in Japan.
Backstage we will sadly be saying farewell to Scott Sheady and Tom Darlington in the Wardrobe Department as well as Green Champion and Head of Wigs Lisa Champion.
Our grateful thanks to everyone who is leaving and welcome to all those joining us - here’s to an exciting international tour!
