Dame Darcey Bussell DBE presents the British Ballet Charity Gala on Thursday 3 June at the Royal Albert Hall. This special gala will be a celebration of the UK’s leading dance companies and features the eight companies listed above coming together for the very first time in a powerful act of solidarity in an evening of dance, unity and joy.  This special event will be a moment for British dance to showcase its extraordinary talent and highlight the significant part it plays in the UK arts scene, during what is one of the most challenging periods in its history.

Each company will perform works from its own repertoire and the evening will be accompanied by the Royal Ballet Sinfonia, conducted by Paul Murphy, Principal Conductor, Birmingham Royal Ballet. The Gala’s Finale’ has been especially choreographed by choreographed by Rambert dancers Simone Damberg Würtz and Daniel Davidson in a spectacular new work uniting all of the participating companies together on film.

The Gala will be hosted by Darcey Bussell and television presenter, musical theatre actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner, Ore Oduba. Proceeds from both the gala and the streaming are to be shared primarily between the participating companies, with each company further nominating a community dance company of their choice who will receive a waterfall donation. With small donations being made to three other contributing charities, the Gala will benefit a total of 19 charities.

"Britain is home to the most creative, talented and inspiring ballet industry. I am so proud that for the very first time, dancers from all eight of Britain’s main ballet companies are coming together to perform on the one stage.  It will be a unique performance to both raise awareness of and funds for the art of ballet, and to help mark the reopening of theatres nationwide."

"We were thrilled when our patron, Dame Darcey Bussell, invited us to be part of this exciting celebration of British dance. It is an incredible opportunity for our industry to come together and celebrate how important the world of dance and the arts are in these challenging times. I can’t wait to see the dancers from all of the companies on stage again at the nation’s favourite venue, the Royal Albert Hall. It’s sure to be a very special evening."

Tickets are priced between £240-£250 and capacity at the Royal Albert Hall will be limited to 1000 to adhere to social distancing guidelines.
