Matthew Bourne, on behalf of New Adventures, Northern Ballet and Sadler’s Wells today announces the full programme for “MR WONDERFUL”, A Celebration of Jonathan Ollivier’s Life in Dance.
In addition to previously announced performers the evening will also feature contributions from:
Ballet Superstar, Marcelo Gomes, Principal dancer of American Ballet Theater, will perform a solo, “Paganini”, never before seen in the UK, accompanied by violinist Charles Yang. Gomes, who recently guested with New Adventures in “The Car Man”, will also give UK audiences the first chance to see him perform the role of ‘The Swan’ in an excerpt from Matthew Bourne’s “SWAN LAKE” with Dominic North in the role of ‘The Prince’.
We are thrilled to announce that previous New Adventures principal dancers Richard Winsor (now star of BBC1’s “Casualty”), Sam Archer, Simon Williams and James Leece will join current company principals Christopher Marney and Dominic North in Matthew Bourne’s “Mr Wonderful” last seen on stage in 1992.
The award-winning Michael Clark Company, who Jonny danced with between 2011 - 2013, will perform an excerpt from ‘come, been and gone’ to music by David Bowie.
New York based choreographer Warren Adams, Jonathan’s best friend from the Rambert School, has arranged for an exclusive excerpt from the forthcoming West End company of the Broadway hit show, “MOTOWN – THE MUSICAL” which will open in February at The Shaftesbury Theatre.
Award-winning choreographer Drew McOnie will present his piece “SHINE” and the Rambert School, where Jonny trained, will present original work by emerging choreographers. The Young Ensemble from the Sadler’s Wells production of “Lord of the Flies” will perform their piece “TIDAL”, made in November for an exclusive performance at the London Aquatics Centre.
As previously announced the evening also features excerpts from New Adventures productions in which Jonny starred (“The Car Man”, “Play Without Words” and “Swan Lake”) featuting Original Casts, and Northern Ballet will present a Pas de Deux from “Wuthering Heights” (in which Jonny created the role of ‘Heathcliffe’) as well as the celebratory Gala piece “Sapphire” made for the men of the Company. Two of Strictly Come Dancing’s most popular dancers, Kevin and Karen Clifton will complete the programme with a thrilling Paso Doble to ‘Roxanne’ by “The Police”.
The evening will be hosted by Matthew Bourne and features a cast of over 80 performers.
