It’s Week Two of rehearsals for Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella and time is ticking until our first performance of the tour next month. In the meantime, here’s an introduction to the musical world of our award-winning production.
Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella will be performed in Surround Sound, designed by Paul Groothuis and feature a specially commissioned recording played by a 60-piece orchestra. Matthew’s vivid story telling will take you into the heart of Sergei Prokofiev’s magnificent score, and the sights and sounds of war-torn London.
Prokofiev composed the original piece ‘Cinderella Op. 87’ between 1940 and 1944 during World War 2 and this factor is very significant to Matthew in setting our production of Cinderella during this time.
While we revive the show in the studio and get ready for our opening performance on 9 December at Sadler’s Wells why not have a listen to the below playlist, conducted by André Previn and performed by the London Symphony Orchestra.
