Bourne to Dance

27 October 2016

A new workshop programme for schools and colleges created to accompany Matthew Bourne’s WORLD PREMIERE of The Red Shoes, based on the classic Powell and Pressburger film with music by Bernard Herrmann. A beloved fairytale and Academy Award-winning movie, The Red Shoes has inspired generations of dancers with its tale of obsession, possession and one girl’s dream to be the greatest dancer in the world.

In Our Shoes

Join us for a unique, two-day opportunity to step ‘In Our Shoes’ and experience first-hand what it is like to be part of Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures.

Day One: The Dancer in the Studio
Through a workshop led by New Adventures dancers, explore movement and themes from The Red Shoes and create a piece of choreography inspired by the show.

Day Two: The Dancer on Stage

Curtain Raisers

An incredible chance to work with dancers from the New Adventures company to create an original piece of choreography in response to Matthew Bourne’s The Red Shoes and perform it live for an audience.

Our curtain raisers give young aspiring dancers the opportunity to work with our world-renowned company through the exploration and development of their technical and creative skills.

Their work will result in the creation of a short piece, as a response to the themes and movement discovered in The Red Shoes, culminating in a live performance on stage before the show.
