Patrick Weir

From a rural area on the New South Wales Far North Coast, Patrick started ballet from a young age, being inspired and mentored by Monique Feain, Cassandra Warman and Jade Dewi Tyass Tunggal. He performed with QL2 Youth Dance Company working with choreographers Caitlin and Gabriel Comerford, Shafia Brooks (2011), Lina Limosani and Matt Cornell (2012).

In 2012 he travelled to the UK under the Big Brother Movement (BBM) Scholarship to forge and develop new connections with dance artists in the UK.

Patrick is currently completing his final semester at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA), where he’s studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Dance). He has been the recipient of the AG McMillen Arts Trust (Most Outstanding Ballet) in 2013 and the Walter and Muriel McConnan Scholarship in 2014 and in 2016.

At the VCA he has worked with choreographers Rochelle Carmichael, Lee Serle, Anna Smith, Stephanie Lake, Rheannan Port and Prue Lang.

In September 2016 Patrick will be performing ‘Decadance Perth 2016’ by Ohad Naharin in the MoveMe Festival and the Australian Dance Awards.

Participating in Ohad Naharin’s ‘Gaga Movement Language’ workshops at STRUT Dance has had a profound influence which will inform future projects for Patrick.
